The list of 2019..continued

Powering through the list.....got steam up now, there's no stopping the Oilyracer Team.
Chief Captain Koen was tasked to finally finish the keyway modifications on the 'braking cross shaft' to accept the revised pedal positioning. Well he does now own a mill and a couple of chinese cutting tools...which as luck would have it were the correct size.....amazing!

Me? Started putting split pins through the Castle nuts....Blimey, theres hell of a lot of Castle nuts on a Chenard & Walcker....
Needed to be done though, race safety is everything.....we'll be thankful for this preparation some day
Is it nearly Beer o'clock?  Oh yes......turn the shop lights off old chap, we've done for another day.

The lack of beans on toast has had little effect on the brain efficency of Albertos CracklepoRtcullis. Indeed I seem to be as good as new....

So, what really did happen in those mystical days of Vintafaking in April 2019 at Oilyracer H.Q. Aaahh well, what happened in the Arcade stays in the Arcade...Top secret......
But I can tell you that as Oilyracer Chief Captain Koen was on the quarter deck riveting like his life depended on it I was down below in the hold...Stoking the boiler...Nay, more like fabricating a raucous exhaust system from an extremely valuable redundant XJ6 system. Cutting, twisting, bending, you name it I did it. All of it whilst lying on my back with no safety net.
No money spent, 'thankfully' because there was none in the budget to send the waste gasses from exhaust manifold to tail pipe.
Not bad eh? That pipework was wasted on a Jaguar...

Better wrap it with a bit of wood stove flue bandage and blackening for maximum effect , real proper vintage now.

What's next on the list for tomorrow old chap?

Warning
Remember boys and girls exhaust wrap gets everywhere.
Very very dangerous......only for the experienced

Oh no!!!!

Sometimes life deals a bitter pill.......just when everything is going lov'ly jubb'ly a curve ball hits the groin area....eeeekkk! ooooowwww!
I'm sat here blogging the latest news from Oilyracer H.Q. and the tummy starts to rumble.....a need for a little 'Scooby Snack' is in order..... down to the kitchen, what better than a plate full of beans on toast with a goodly splash of Hendersons Relish to give a bit of a kick..
Would have been good, could have satisfied the grumbling in the belly but Ney and trice Ney...
My slices have a growth, a hint of penicillin, blimey, huffffff. What's going on?
How can I possible continue?
Posh!!!! Line up all mi flagons.......top um all up wi mi finest homebrew.....gonna get whisst as a peeeesel
Oh maybe pis*ed as a weeesel...whatever, really fancied beans on toast

Might blog tomorrow if I feel some mojo juice flowing through my inner bio..

Oilyracer Workshop April '19 No1 Chenard & Walcker Firewall

Greetings Oilyracer fanatics.....It is me...Yes Albert Cracklingport. I've recently been to Oilyracer H.Q. Plenty to do on the job list, so I was up early, insisted on a short lunch break and then straight back to the grindstone until dusk. Time is of the essence as there's at least 40 years worth of projects and I don't think my life expectancy covers it.
The Chenard & Walcker needed progress.....
Chief Oilyracer Commander Koen elected himself to rivet the firewall to the body. He did happen to have 'Goverment' rivets in stock but these were of a goodly size and probably were left over from the Titanic hull. A homemade rivet gun didn't scratch the surface despite some extremely dangerous manoeuvres across the workshop as red hot rivet was transfered from blowlamp fame to bulkhead position. Just not hot enough and fuzzy wuzzy pneumatics.
Mmmmmm, time for a re-think.....in the true Vintafake pioneering spirit a cunning cheat was called for. Run a thread up the shank and bolt them in. Easier said than done to hold a rivet head and tap a thread but hey....it had to be done.

Tasty or what? Looks just like it was meant to be.
Beer o'clock...bloody well deserved it!
