Today.....a steering lever

As I need to make the steering axle longer and I don't want to cut the original one ...  I made a new one using an old prop shaft ......

The Commer Comet ....steering house

Before doing more bodywork I want to position the steering wheel a bit more to the centre of the car and sort out the drivers position properly.
The plan is to make a spacer which moves the complete steering house.
The steering shaft will still need to come out of the chassis ... so I will need to make that one longer.
Easier said then done ...as the shaft and it's pressed on sprocket are both hardened.....
Not to mention the particular funny size of the 1928 French spline....
The plan is to use and old propshaft from a more resent car and a piece of thick walled tubing.
The thick tube will be pressed on the old spline using a 300 ton press (that will be an interesting experience)....at the other end I will weld in the more recent spline of the propshaft .......
Of course the lever outside of the chassis will need a new connection too.... machining out the old one and welding in the newer.....

I'll post some picture during the process ..which will probably make more sense....
